This trip begins at the Betzwood Bridge area of Valley Forge which is on the North side of Highway 422 and the Schuylkill River. There are restrooms here and several parking lots. Many bikers begin their ride from here.

The first part of the trip is through a heavily wooded area with many trees overhead. The trail opens up affording several great views of the river as well as some communities by the water's edge.

As you approach Norristown, you are able to see some of the town's industry as well as the train station by the trail.
