Dr. Dunbar has several undergraduate research projects.  Some of them involve stream assessment studies, studying the basic biology of halophilic microbes and genes in the mammary glands of mice that are involved in proper abnormal mammary gland development.  Currently, several of his students are piloting DNA barcoding experiments on macroinvertebrates (stream insects) as a way to identify macroinvertebrates to the species level using the power of molecular genetics.  The DNA barcoding studies are a collaboration between Dr. Dunbar's lab and the Stroud Water Research Center.
